BEHIND THE BRAND
One of a kind jewellery for ocean loving souls.
Carved by the waves the beautiful sea glass gems carry the magic of the ocean. Handcrafted into minimalist style jewellery designs allowing the natural beauty of sea glass to shine.
Every piece of Ondine Designs jewellery is handcrafted by me, Beth from my home studio in the lush green countryside of the Tywi Valley. I find so much joy in the process of working with silver and I hope that is held within my designs in some way. Each piece of jewellery begins at the beach, searching along the shorelines for pieces of sea glass that have been tumbling amid the waves for decades or more.

It fascinates me that every piece of sea glass has it’s history and has lived a lifetime before I find it washed up on the sand. It’s a tiny part of a bigger story. What might have began as an old Victorian poison bottle or Depression era glassware or a 16th century ink or perfume bottle will have passed through many hands before ending up discarded to the sea. In crafting these gems with silver I get to be a part of continuing that story, now as something beautiful to be worn and treasured.
I work with a combination of recycled 925 sterling silver and fine silver. Recycled silver is repurposed from old jewellery, medical supplies and electronics. It’s melted down and formed into wire and sheet ready to be crafted into something new. Nature plays it’s part in creating the materials I use, and I in turn aim to have as little impact on this planet as possible in crafting those materials into jewellery. At my workbench every scrap of silver gets reused too, even the dust from sawing I sweep up and fire up, back into solid silver to be used in a new design.
